Class Descriptions:

Leadership

The purpose of the leadership class is to train students, through theory and practice, in the various aspects of leadership. Those involved in the Palo Verde High School Student Council will have opportunities to impact the life of their school, community, and themselves. Leadership is not a responsibility to be taken lightly. It requires many skills and the development of those skills is the primary focus of this class.

Course Expectations

Resource US Government
This course is a study of federal, state and local governments.  Emphasis is placed on understanding the basic principles of the constitution, civil rights and citizen responsibilities. Students will develop an awareness of the law as it affects the individual and develop an understanding of the American political process.  Emphasis is also placed on improving the students’ reading and writing skills.

Guidance
Students will be taking the guidance class to get assistance with their other classes and become familiar with the various parts of their Individualized Educational plan. The class will be focussing on the following items:

*learn and understand all parts of Individualized Education Program
*learn to advocate for themselves by knowing and understanding
 modifications
*learn to use Parent Link to check grades, attendance, transcripts use time in
class to complete missing assignments or work on homework
learn and use organizational skills
*practice proficiency problems in science, math, reading, and English
