Scholarships Information

All scholarship have application deadlines that must be met.

The theme for this year's Students with a Cause Scholarship is "Spirit of Nevada". 9 - 12th grade students who best illustrate what makes Nevada special through artwork, video, poem, short story, or website will win $1000. Deadline is May 19, 2017.

The Horatio Alger Association offers a scholarship specifically for students who will be pursuing technical education leading to a certificate (not a traditional college degree). Examples would be cosmetology, medical assisting, culinary arts, or diesel/auto repair. Students must demonstrate financial need through qualification for the Pell Grant. Deadline is June 15, 2017.

The PEF has a new scholarship. There is NO gpa requirement. Student must write an essay about drunk/impaired driving. See attached for more information. Deadline is April 14, 2017.

The June Stannard Rural Tourism Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 award for students who plan to study something that is hospitality, travel, and/or tourism related. Please see Ms. Dambro in the Counseling Office for the application. Deadline is April 10, 2017

Students who will attend UNLV in the fall are eligible to apply for the Hixon-Lied Scholars Program. Students must demonstrate financial need through their ability to qualify for a Federal Pell Grant. Deadline is April 24, 2017

The Sigma Gamma Rho Corine J. Green Excellence in Education Award will be presented to a student who has a 2.5 or higher GPA and a record of community service. See Ms. Dambro in the Counseling Office for the application. Deadline is April 21, 2017

The scholarships - $5,000 each - serve underrepresented students pursuing careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Applicants should demonstrate academic achievement (at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA), leadership skills or community service in STEM fields, and a commitment to pursue a career in a STEM field. Deadline is April 10, 2017.

The Las Vegas Chapter of the UH Alumni and Friends is offering a scholarship to a senior who has a 2.5 GPA or higher and will attend the University of Hawai'i. See Ms. Dambro in the Counseling Office for the application. Deadline is April 20, 2017

The CCAESP offers a $1,000 scholarship to a child of a CCAESP member. Applicants must submit 2 letters of recommendation, a resume, an essay, and a transcript. See Ms. Dambro in the Counseling Office for the application. Deadline is April 20, 2017.

This is a scholarship for students who have earn at least a 2.0 GPA. Requires an essay and two letters of recommendation. See Ms. Dambro in the Counseling Office for the application. Due April 22, 2017.

There are still approximately 50 scholarships STILL available from the Public Education Foundation. Seniors, please take a look at the attached list and see which scholarships you may qualify for. Check Listing

Kappa Alpha Psi will recognize a student who demonstrates strong academics, leadership skills, community service, and financial need with a $1,000 scholarship. See the attached application. Deadline is April 15, 2017.

Three $4,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who live in Summerlin. Students must have an unweighted GPA of 3.3 and a record of community service in order to be considered. See Ms. Dambro in the Counseling Office for an application. Deadline is May 23, 2017.

The Philip J. Cohen Scholars Program was created to provide financial support to deserving UNLV students who may have not otherwise received a scholarship based upon traditional need or merit requirements. The program hopes to encourage Nevada's students to remain in the community after graduation and inspire them with Mr. Cohen's legacy to become active leaders. The 2017 Aspiring Nurse Scholarship is for students who intend to become a nurse. The committee is looking for students with a strong background in math and science and a passion for nursing. Deadline is June 30, 2017.
