Coach Smith brings an extensive and decorated background in high school football coaching to his new role as the third head coach in Palo Verde High School's history. His career highlights include a 97-40 record in coordinator or head coach roles and significant success in San Diego before contributing to multiple championships at Bishop Gorman.

Here are key aspects of his coaching credentials:

• Overall Record: 97 wins and 40 losses as a coordinator or head coach over 13 years.
• Led the team to 7 playoff victories and the school's first and only CIF Championship in its 50-year history.
• Named the 2019 Los Angeles Chargers and Scorebook Live Coach of the Year for the San Diego Section.

Bishop Gorman High School:

• Served as Special Teams Coordinator and Tight Ends coach.
• Part of the staff for the 2023 National Championship team and five recent state championships.
