Hello Palo Verde families, As we reach the end of Quarter 3, the PVHS Student Success Office wanted to share some important and helpful attendance information.

What is the attendance expectation for PVHS students?

It is the expectation that all PVHS students attend every class every day. Per CCSD policy, PVHS students are expected to maintain a minimum of 90% overall attendance for all of their classes, including excused and/or prearranged absences. Students missing more than 10% of school days are considered chronically absent.

What do I do if my student is too sick to attend school?

In the event of an unavoidable absence, you, as a parent/guardian, can submit an ABSENCE FORM via the PVHS website within 3 school days of the absence. If your student saw a doctor, or other medical professional, be sure to attach a note from the doctor’s office so your student can be medically excused.

How can I help monitor my student’s daily attendance?

By logging into the INFINITE CAMPUS PARENT PORTAL, you can see your student’s attendance for each class period each day. Additionally, you are encouraged to download the Infinite Campus app on your smartphone. With the app, you can set notifications to alert you of absences and/or tardies throughout the day.

Can my student be denied credit for a class due to attendance?

If a student has 8 or more unexcused (UNV) absences in a semester for any class, they are at RISK of being denied credit for the class. In the event of credit denial, a letter and Parentlink message will be sent to the parent/guardian.

What happens if my student arrives to class late?

PVHS students are expected to arrive to every class on time. If a student arrives after the tardy bell, they will be marked tardy. Students with excessive tardies each week are subject to progressive discipline. Please note, per CCSD policy, any student arriving to a class more than 30 minutes late will be marked as absent.

Thank you for your help and support with our Panther students. See the PVHS Attendance Guide for Parents below for more information regarding attendance policies and procedures. If you have any additional questions or concerns regarding attendance, please contact the PVHS Student Success Office.
