MUSIC COURSES ORCHESTRA
The Palo Verde High School Orchestra program offers our students an inclusive, artistic, and aesthetically driven experience. Students at all levels of musicianship can find success in our program. We offer various levels of orchestras from our string orchestras to our nationally-recognized full symphony Philharmonic. In addition, students participate in our Solo and Ensemble at Palo Verde and have the opportunity to play in one of our chamber ensembles. Our orchestras have additional opportunities to perform outside of Palo Verde including district festival and regional festivals, as well as national festivals for the Philharmonic. We work with our musicians to develop a welcoming, encouraging, and inclusive environment for all students to collaborate and reach their greatest musical potential.
ORCHESTRA BEGINNING
Fee: $60 class fee ($63 with processing fee).
Requirements: This group performs at numerous concerts & festivals throughout the year that students are required to attend.
This class is for students who completed the beginning level of orchestra at middle school or junior high school. Students will continue to develop skills and techniques to prepare them for the varsity orchestra.
ORCHESTRA INTERMEDIATE
Prerequisite: Intermediate students grades 9-12 with director placement.
Fee: $60 class fee ($63 with processing fee).
Requirements: This group performs at numerous concerts & festivals throughout the year that students are required to attend.
This class is for students who completed the beginning level of orchestra at middle school or junior high school. Students will continue to develop skills and techniques to prepare them for the varsity orchestra.
ORCHESTRA ADVANCED
Prerequisite: Audition/Director placement
Fee: $60 class fee ($63 with processing fee).

This class is for students who completed the beginning level of orchestra at middle school or junior high school. Students will continue to develop skills and techniques to prepare them for the varsity orchestra.
ORCHESTRA ADVANCED (Sinfonia)
Prerequisite: Audition/Director placement
Requirements: Students must purchase formal tuxedo or a long formal black dress and attend all concerts and trips to be in the Sinfonia. Students will be responsible for costs associated with travel, fundraising available to offset those costs.
Fee: $60 class fee ($63 with processing fee).
The Palo Verde Sinfonia is the top performing string ensemble in the orchestra department and frequently travels. This ensemble performs difficult literature from all musical eras. This ensemble is by audition with the orchestra director only. Private lessons are suggested for students in this ensemble. Extra rehearsals are required for off-campus performances and have mandatory attendance.
PHILHARMONIC (Chamber Orchestra - Early Bird Class)
Prerequisite: Audition/Director placement
Requirements: Students must be enrolled in Advanced Orchestra. Students must purchase formal tuxedo or a long formal black dress and attend all concerts and trips. Students will be responsible for costs associated with travel, fundraising available to offset those costs.

The Nationally Acclaimed Palo Verde Philharmonic is a full symphony orchestra, which performs nationally and/or regionally every year is made up of the most proficient students in the orchestra and band programs. This advanced ensemble performs music at the most advanced level for high school and collegiate students. Students in this ensemble will work annually with some of the most respected guest conductors in the country and performs a minimum of six times a year. Private study is strongly encouraged for members of this ensemble. Students are required to attend any and all trips associated with this ensemble. Fundraising is available and scholarships are possible via request and need.
