Even after moving to the big and exciting city of Las Vegas in 2008, I still find the slower pace of my hometown of Perrysburg Ohio comforting.

I received my bachelor's degree in Commercial art from Ashland University in Ohio. I attended The art Institute of Pittsburgh, where I received an associate's degree in Industrial Design Technology - specializing in Special Effects Movie Makeup. After a brief time working in Erie Pennsylvania as a commercial artist, I decided that that was not the career for me. I returned home and decided to attend The University of Tolefo to receive my teaching certification in Visual Arts. Shortly after that I attended Marygrove College in Detroit Michigan and received my Masters in Education. I taught for nine years in my hometown before deciding to follow my little brother to Las Vegas and teach art. I have taught Visual Arts in Vegas for 16 years and have been at Palo Verde since 2019. At Palo Verde HS I teach Drawing I, II, AP Drawing, AP 2D, AP 3D, and Special Effect Movie Makeup I, II, III. In the Special Effects Movie Makeup program students learn the craft of making prosthetics, wounds, and basic theater makeup. Students learn the skills to create the monsters, villains, and creatures we love to watch on stage and on the big screen. Some of my favorite activities away from school are gardening and tending to my pets -12 turtles, 1 tortoise, 2 dogs, and many fish. I work as a children's picture book author / illustrator as well as sculpting various creatures, I enjoy following my favorite sports teams, camping, hiking, and vacationing with family are activities I also enjoy.
